Question of the week.
We've been asked Should we check our fire extinguishers ourselves?
Yes.
Fire extinguishers should be checked monthly by personnel on site, and annually by a fire engineer.

All Fire Extinguishers now have a lifespan of 10 years. So the year of manufacture is marked on the cylinder
Powder, Foam & Water type extinguishers need to be discharged and refilled every three years. This means we take all the contents out, disassemble the valve, redo the seals' refill and pressurize to ensure it is ready in case of emergency
Fire-points should be clearly labelled and unobstructed.
